Description

A5 spiral bound dotted notebook, 140 pages - The ART OF CHIMERAS series revisits medieval bestiaries, natural history plates, and scientific treatises by great observers of life such as Ulisse Aldrovandi or Georges-Louis Leclerc de Buffon. Leaf-birds, floral mammals, and plant and animal creatures intertwine in an inspired watercolor aesthetic drawing from naturalist iconography and ancient engravings.

The chimera, a Greek mythological creature mentioned in Homer's Iliad, originally had the body of a lion, the head of a goat, and the tail of a serpent. It symbolizes the unknown and the wondrous in ancient literature.
In the Middle Ages, the chimera left the realm of myth to enter illuminated manuscripts, bestiaries, and naturalistic treatises, where it became a symbol, an allegory, and an enigma.

The Curious Notebooks Collection is an illustrated gallery you can carry with you: poetic female portraits, singular bestiaries, amusing scenes, or mischievous animals transform the 140 pages into a traveling confidant, whose beauty you almost dare not disturb by writing in it. The limited edition illustrated covers are little gems for collectors and stationery lovers.

Each item is printed on demand. Colors and placement may vary very slightly.
